Prague is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic. The Prague area is estimated to have a population of nearly 2 million. Prague has famous cultural attractions, many of which survived the violence and destruction of 20th-century Europe. The city has more than ten major museums, along with several theatres, galleries, cinemas, and many other historical exhibits. The winters are cold with the average temperatures at about the freezing point, and with very little sunshine. The summers have plenty of sunshine and an average high temperature of 24 °C. Precipitation in Prague is rather low. There are hundreds of restaurants, bars and pubs, especially with Czech beer. The public transport infrastructure consists of an intensely used integrated transport system.
